About 5 or 6 years ago, there was a tanker entity called Hunter Tanker AS. The company was a VLCC pure-play that ordered eight ECO VLCCs. SFL helped the company with a financing package on three of their early VLCCs. Half the VLCCs got sold within a couple of years of being delivered.
But, they still had 4 vessels. Well, the last one got sold in 2022
Awful timing. If the company had stuck around till 2023, those VLCCs would likely have been worth a lot more.
The initial reason that made me think about the company was the DHT acquisition from earlier this year. That vessel was a 2018 build, so earlier than the eight Hunter vessels (4 2019, 4 2020)
