What I was questioning was Goofy’s claim that “we get the worse of it”. That’s certainly not obvious.

They will now! The POTUS signed an executive order changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America. Game. Set. Match. The Canadians will come groveling to us. Who’s sorry, now?
I get a little choked up sometimes, wondering what we did to deserve leaders of such wisdom and courage.

Ya think? I dunno. If we drop all [auto] tariffs and allow Chinese cars entry into our market, I suspect that they would capture a good percentage of the market within a decade. They make pretty good cars and sell them at prices no other automaker can match. UAW automakers would shrink!
Within a year, I suspect. However Canada has lots of auto plants too, and UAW workers. Perhaps out of Canadian politeness, or perhaps sheer pragmatics, Canada used to keep foreign automobiles out the same way we did. Since this nonsense started they have decided, OK, we’ll open the doors (a little) to Chinese imports.
We’ve convinced them to go from zero to 50,000 (70,000 in 5 years).
So: more winning, I guess.
