I know open source has been discussed in much detail here with the licensing change at MDB. I was just reading an article on Redis Labs changing their open source license recently and they mention MDB here as well. It sounds like the change is the way forward. Companies with open source licenses want some money from other companies profiting off their bread and butter.

I believe that the new licensing agreement put forth by MDB will become the model for all open source. Use our product for free so long as it’s not embedded in a profit making product of your own. If you need assistance, consultation, etc. that’s an extra paid service. If you embed our product in yours, it’s not free and you owe us a piece of your action.
