This is why I love Oregon’s small towns. It’s either DC-style, bipartisan sex trafficking, or massive financial corruption at a huge cost to local taxpayers.

It’s hard to imagine a more appropriate location for a data center. Columbia River provides abundant water and low cost hydropower. Eastern Oregon is mostly desert except for irrigation.

GREEDY falls a bit short, does it not? How about ultimate arrogating scum bags betraying their public trust in a manner requiring some epithet a wee bit stringer than merely greedy, and some action closer to reversing their deplorable hidden deal, requiring they return the illegitimately looted public money, and exiling them permanently from positions of social and public trust, so providing a warning to others.

Interesting and tangential factoid I learned this week - Portland Oregon has the record for the most strip clubs per capita. More than Vegas, New Orleans, or Tampa (the other top 4).

Portland was founded by people who were overwhelmingly Puritan descendant Congregationalists (most of my ancestors), later reinforced by Norwegian Lutherans (some more of mine), and both habitually suppressed public indecency, insuring the success of Strip clubs and the like……

Each town along the Columbia River gets an allotment of cheap hydropower based on river frontage. If you’re giving all the cheap power to Amazon for a song, the locals have to pay more.

And they have so much surplus hydropower they are tearing down hydrodams for the benefit of wildlife.

Notice that Portland is in the Willamette valley west of the Cascade Mountains. That is where it rains all winter. Eastern Oregon gets little rain. Clouds are blocked by the mountains. The mountains run north and south and so does the weather.
