OT (For Tim): Decree 24 and Queen of Canada

I recall saying a few months ago, maybe a year ago now, that our craziness is contagious and it was only time until it moved north…

This is from December:

The Story of Romana Didulo - the self declared ‘Queen of Canada’
https://www.audacy.com/podcasts/nighttime-56817/the-story-of…

For nearly a year now, a middle aged woman in Victoria, BC has been publishing videos and releasing written statements in which she claims to have been appointed as Queen of Canada and head of government by a collective of allied nations. It may sound laughable, but Romana Didulo has been embraced by the online Qanon conspiracy subculture and as a result she has found herself with a large devoted following, upwards of 70k members in fact, and many of them believe her every word. Romana Didulo has declared the version of Canada she claims to lead a vaccination free country… and has declared vaccine administration a crime against humanity that is punishable by death… and she seems to have given her followers approval to carry out the enforcement.

From today:

Followers of QAnon ‘Queen of Canada’ face mounting problems after being convinced utilities are free
https://news.yahoo.com/followers-qanon-queen-canada-face-232…

Didulo posted a series of “royal decrees” on Telegram claiming that bill payments are not necessary. “Decree 24” stated that electricity became free in Canada, while “Decree 23” declared water bills were now illegal. “Decree 79” claimed that rent prices had reverted to rates from 1955.

One of Didulo’s followers pushed other believers to abide by the “royal decrees” after she “stopped paying hydro, weather, natural gas, property taxes, line of credit, and my credit cards.”

Many others who have also since posted about no longer paying their bills – including many who are elderly and rely on fixed incomes – have now had their utilities shut down and are collecting thousands of dollars’ worth of bills.

I guess if people can believe JFK Jr. can come back from the dead, then there certainly can be a Filipino queen of Canada making all utilities free.

Doesn’t Canada have a law against impersonating the Monarchy?

“Followers”……

70,000 are not paying utilities?

Or…… 70,000 couldn’t resist signing up to read the latest nonsense from “The Queen”.

No doubt she’s winning the war as an “Influencer”.

But it’s doubtful that she has an army of 70,000 serfs with pikes.

As far as I’m concerned the current Monarchy (other than the Queen) is impersonating a Monarchy.

I have a vague memory of the coronation of the current Queen (I would have been almost six). A very large number of Canadians would like to have her be the last monarch of Canada.

As to not paying utility bills in Canada … well if they turn off your power, water, gas and phone for non-payment and you decide you really need those things, there is a significant charge to have them restored as well as paying what is owed.

Off with her head.

Apathy might be what’s keeping Canadians from ditching the monarchy

A lack of interest might be a bigger obstacle to abolishing the monarchy than constitutional roadblocks
