@intercst I am so sorry to hear this. Were they able to save the knee joint? Where are you located now?

Wishing for good pain control, rapid healing and no further complications.

Don’t delay exercising. There are plenty of YouTube videos of chair exercises. Exercise your upper legs, abs, shoulders and arms. Do not delay or you will lose your conditioning. You will need every muscle to recover, become independent and use your prosthesis.

Sorry to hear this, cannot imagine the jolt, but there is a long road ahead, many others have traveled, use all the help you have, need, modern prosthetics can, will have you right back at it, all the best…

still in hospital. started using walker today. Don"t have discharge plan yet.

Also, they wipe you down with chloro wipes in holding area before surgery. the 2 showers before seem superfulous,

Yes. Another example of “you never know”, so do what you want while you KNOW you still can. 1poormom put off retiring so long that when she finally did, she and her BFF were already old, and the BFF died almost literally while they were packing to go on a trip. She never did any of her travel plans, and then dementia took hold and we had to put her in a care facility for her own safety.

I am grateful to you for all the advice you have given over the years to enable people to know if/when they can retire. We pulled the trigger three years ago. Since then, we’ve been to places like Iceland, Norway, the Canary Islands, Vietnam…while we’re still physically able to do that. Because someday, we probably won’t be able.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hopefully your prognosis is good.

Still second–guessing. Glad you are still your old self.

An alternative way to look at it is that the surgical site hasn’t gotten infected (yet), so maybe that’s a consequence of the double disinfection technique.

So sad to hear your dreadful news. Best wishes for a strong recovery.

John, I wish you peace and success as you move forward, emotionally, psychologically, and physically.

I’m grateful for the amazing advances in prosthetics.
I expect you to be winning your age group on the senior Olympics, in a couple years.
