I had one of these but never knew all the secrets it had, it was just more durable than wooden rulers. My introduction to IT was during the Summer break of 1959 when Data Processing, as it was called back then, was still mostly Unit Record (IBM punched cards) vs. Visible Record (NCR ledger cards). Why do I bring up NCR? That’s where IBM founder Thomas Watson Sr. learned the art of salesmanship from John H. Patterson
