Some years ago, at least 20, while wandering the Southwest, AZ, NM, I forgot I had an unopened Pepsi, back then I was still drinking sugar water, and let it in the cup holder of my F150, went off on a hike… Pretty warm. but manageable day, but the F150 was closed, so a lot hotter I guess…

Came back, got in, looked at the Pepsi, it had expand up as well as the bottom, luckily did not explode, but I carefully put it out in the bed of the truck, didn’t even try to open it until that night when everything had cooled down, just dumped it out, recycled the can… What a mess that could have made if it had blown up in the cab…

I bought a can of grey car painting for a small project on my car. I was told by the store owner not to leave the paint can in the car. The inside of the car in this heat would be entirely grey paint. Ouch!

From the article:

Altitude likely isn’t a factor, as the cabins of aircraft are pressurized to match conditions on Earth’s surface.

That’s technically true, but misleading. Airline cabins are typically pressurized to the equivalent of 6-8,000 feet. That’s on the high range of where most people live.

Is there some sort of comfort for people living at sea level because of the pressure?
