Is there a ballot in your bag for me? Maybe not if the proposed rule change from the USPS goes into effect. Comment period ends July 2, then things could become messy.

This seems reasonable to me. Most done electronically. All it takes is quality software running on efficient equipment. Of course both are rare in govt. Some hamlet always lacks resources to upgrade.
We should also have rules requiring ballots be received by a timely date and counted. No more than 7 days after Election Day.

It seems reasonable that the USPS can refuse to deliver election related mail if a state hasn’t provided voter rolls to the federal government? Maybe you mean reasonable in the sense that it’s possible and can be done electronically? Hopefully you’re not suggesting that it’s reasonable for the federal government to meddle in elections. That would be ridonculously unreasonable.
I guess I’m an old school kinda guy, we already have a rule that gives states the power to prescribe the times, places, and manner of holding elections. It’s called the States and Elections Clause of the US Constitution.

In most cases, states control their own elections. The USPS has no Constitutional authority to prohibit a state from mailing ballots to their own residents.

If Post Office has this info, they can make effort to deliver in time for the election. If not, regular service is all you can expect.
PO doesn’t need the info. The PO has been delivery ballots by mail for over 40 years.
This is a solution in search of a problem.

The proposal is to improve reliability of delivery. Yes, by rejecting it we accept the status quo such as it is. I hear lots of reports of lost mail or delayed delivery.
What are you talking about? If that was the case, they wouldn’t have targeted election related mail for their changes. They would have suggested implementing changes for all mail, not just election mail.

No it isn’t. The proposal is to suppress votes. Period. There is absolutely nothing in this that in any way improves delivery. The proposal aims to prohibit delivery.
