OT, the surprising reach of Whatsa Matta U

I mentioned, recently, a “general ed” class that snared nearly everyone at Whatsa Matta U, to fill their “general ed” requirement to graduate. That “non-western world” class was the one with the question about standing in India, facing Pakistan, what country is on your right.

The person who was supposed to run that class was suddenly out of country, so, for the first few weeks of the term, the department head, Dr Sharma, ran the class. Then, the regular professor returned.

Somehow, I remembered his name over the decades, and thought to look for a Wiki entry for him tonight. Sure enough.

He joined Western Michigan University as an associate professor in 1971 and retired in 1993.
