OT:The US Move Toward More Unilateralism

Might Makes Right!
Unlimited warfare. No more namby pamby.
Geneva convention can be ignored.
VICTORY is EVERYTHING!

But we got politically correct: ‘Ah, let’s take it easy!’. It’s that we’re not politically correct anymore. Just so you understand: We win. Now we win ”. All these would have been easy – along with Afghanistan.

“No matter where you go”, Trump adds, “no matter what you even think about, there’s nothing like the fighting force that we have [including] Rome … No one should ever want to start a fight with the USA”.

The point is that in today’s Trump circles, not only is there no fear of war, but there is this unsubstantiated delusion of American military power.

“We crushed Iran’s nuclear and ballistic projects – they are still there, but we took them back with the help of President Trump ”, Netanyahu boasts. “We had a precise alliance, within the framework of which we shared the burden [with the U.S.] and achieved the neutralization of Iran

While not a paper tiger; Russia is relatively weak. Which is why the US has expanded NATO up to the Russian border. Just Ukraine is to be added as the last piece.
A smidge of miscalculation as Russia invaded Ukraine.

Likely Zelensky will get his tomahawk missiles as Putin did not come to the table to seriously talk about peace. The president is angry. Pressure will be applied.
An escalation. Could this become a nuclear confrontation?
Have we miscalculated again. Will Russia/Putin not back down.
Come on tj! There is no other rational action that Russia/Putin can take.

1)Did Russia/Putin take the “rational” action and not invade Ukraine.
2)Is the reason behind the problems 7?or defeats in the Middle East is the US did not understand the cultural mindset of the region?
3)Is it possible that we do not understand the Russia mindset because it is not totally European? Russia is a euro-asia empire/landmass.How much does the Asian concept of “face” make up the Russian mindset? I link “face” with high self esteem. Japanese officers committed suicide [seppuku] for military failure as their honor & perceive disgrace could not permit them to continue to exist.
The West has driven Russia further into China arms.
4) A poll to consider. Significant or not?

29% of Russians consider Russia to be a European country, 64% – a non-European. Back in 2019, these numbers were 37% and 55%, respectively. Overall, since 2008 the number of those who believe that Russia is a European country has decreased by almost half: from 52% to 29%. The number of those who believe otherwise rose in roughly the same proportion: from 36% to 64%.

Just what is the macroeconomic aspect of this post? Well if nuclear missiles fly that pretty much ends the world economy.

Overestimation of West military might?

But the threat has also opened a broader debate about whether the alliance’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, U.S. Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, has enough clarity over what he can and cannot do, given limits called “national caveats” that allies can set for their forces in NATO missions.

“It’s no secret that the more ‘national caveats’ there are on — especially our fighter jet assets — the harder it is for SACEUR to respond immediately,” U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said ahead of the summit. “Those are conversations that we’re going to continue to have within the alliance and to make sure that … where they can be reduced, they can be reduced.”

Whitaker also said Washington expects NATO allies to announce “big” spending pledges for Ukrainian weapons purchases from the U.S. during Wednesday’s meeting.

Yeah with what? I see France just caved on pension reform to save the Macron government. It seems the European population refuses to see that their social safety net is no longer affordable. France Will continue to fund hire retirement benefits at the expense of the current worker population.
