"Pilot of the Day" on United

FAA investigating social media post with Colorado Rockies hitting coach Hensley Muelens sitting in the pilot’s seat at 30,000 ft enroute to Toronto for an away game.

I’m pretty sure that this is a criminal violation of FAA rules post 9/11. The cockpit door is supposed to be locked in flight. And a private charter flight on a United Airlines aircraft is supposed to be operated to the same standards as any other commercial flight on the airline.

Here’s the video. I’d be surprised if the Captain in the right seat still has a job by Monday.

Does that rule apply in Canadian airspace too? He said they were at 5,000 feet. That’s pretty low so maybe close to destination. In fact it’s dangerously low! Little room for recovery if something blows or hits the fan. But they weren’t in the pattern.

I think you mean “Pilot for one more day”, maybe.
