Question to old timers

I remember reading on TMF USA many years back, there was some old well-known investor who had written newsletters that were quite popular here. I believe he passed away and I think maybe his daughter posted on TMF to say thanks for the messages of condolence?

Someone posted up links to PDFs of the newsletters but by the time I found the thread, the links didn’t work.

I cannot remember the person’s name and I cannot find the old threads. Does anyone have any idea who/what I’m talking about here?

Gosh, I do not know… Do you remember any of the things that poster liked to post about?

Literally the only things I remember are:

  • old

  • his newsletters were scanned into PDFs (they were old and on paper)

  • daughter came to TMF boards to say thank you (or passed a message?)

plus a general outpouring of praise for the guy. It was likely a value investing guy.

Maybe it was the guy who used to publish the wonderful Outstanding Investor Digest (OID).

I don’t think that was the guy I’m thinking of, but I’ll double check. Thanks.

This is looking maybe more like it. Thanks, I’ll investigate this too see if I can dig up some threads.

Another person it could have been is John Templeton. His relative, Lauren Templeton, is a nice lady who is in the money management business.

Richard Russell was also a good read

May have been the coffee can portfolio guy.

I think it’s him who had the daughter swing by, but forget the name.

I’m thinking it was Reitnut (Ralph Block) who wrote the REIT newsletter. Some relevant posts:
