# Record US oil production

September 2023 Rig Count by Shale\*In the major plays, the Permian Basin rig count is at **309 rigs** , down eleven from the August count. In east Texas, the Eagle Ford has 50 active rigs, two fewer than August. The Haynesville rig count is 39 rigs, down three from last month.Oct 6, 2023
