Andrey Klepach, who is regarded as one of Russia’s leading economists, is no longer the chief economist of VEB, the country’s national development bank. His resignation came shortly after statements were made about Russia’s economic losses resulting from its full-scale war against Ukraine.
Russia’s state-run TASS news agency confirmed on Sunday that Klepach had left his position as VEB’s chief economist. It did not explain the reasons behind the personnel decision, but noted that a new candidate had already been selected and is expected to be appointed soon.
