I remember this happening 62 years ago.

> Russian warships have conducted drills in the Atlantic while en route to Cuba. It's part of Moscow’s efforts to project power amid the tensions with the West over Ukraine.

I’m surprised this story didn’t rattle the markets today.

Seems NATO, and the US, have plenty of ships venture close to the Russian and Chinese spheres of influence. So why would USians hyperventilate about the Russians doing the same?

Because it serves a political goal, no matter the facts.

The Russian navy is trash. They have exactly one aircraft carrier which isn’t operational and might never be. Sure, Putin could nuke something, but then Moscow would become a glass parking lot.

Putin doesn’t actually want to nuke anything. Hence markets remained calm.

And any of their good ships in the Black Sea can be sunk by Ukraine if the USA gives them permission to do so.

Hopefully not. We can not actually exchange nuclear weapons.

More important would be to take Putin out within hours. I think we’d have that ability. Make a full example of what happens to any dictator who uses nukes.

Bombing Moscow and all of us are down wind for the radiation.

We might also take out most of the Kremlin at the same time.

If we can build swarms of small mechanical insects to deposit nerve agents we’d launch them. Something like that would wipe out Putin and his cronies even if they are in bunkers.

There are plenty left because the US (and EU) have forbidden Ukraine from sinking them.

Every boat/ship is a submersible.
It’s just that some of them are designed to be easily floated again.

Except: There were over two hundred land-based Soviet R-2 medium-range ballistic missile placed in Cuba awaiting a transport of thermonuclear warheads.
This situation is a purely political parade while Russia inundates American social media with fear, and divisive propaganda. Just this week DeSantis has given multiple rallies dividing America with fear and bluster how he would handled The Russian Navy with confrontation and belligerence if only he were running the White House
Putin’s fantasy is an American totalitarian state.
