Yes, it is a holiday for us in the USA. Well, the Greek shipping brokers were happy to provide us a report for the week. Using Affinity, but notice that Gibson also released their weekly report (prefer Affinity because they share data on more routes).
Some thoughts
- Rates on all 19 routes (dirty or clean) were lower week-over-week
- Dirty routes all profitable. Maybe in an extreme case a VLCC owner with a newer & leveraged vessel might struggle with the benchmark TD3C voyage.
- Clean segment has some ugly rates. Yes, smaller vessel on the TC2 route. But that rate is not even covering operating costs. The TC6 is also not great. But, that one is a shorter trip.
While it has played out less so in the last couple of years, Q3 has traditionally been a weaker Qtr for the tanker market. And this year? Well, I would not use this week as the guide.
