SKX Book Value Help

I am looking to find the book value to use to calculate a Price to BV ratio. But I am finding various numbers and I don’t know which one I should use.

Yahoo shows 8.64 (mrq)
Fidelity shows 8.64 (12/31/15)
Morningstar shows 8.37 (2015-12)
Morningstar shows 8.49 (TTM)
Fool.com shows 8.96 (MRQ as of 4/7/16)

Could someone please explain the differences and point to the most appropriate BV to use?

Thank you.

Ken

Denny:

Any ratios can be found/calculated by looking at the SEC filings. I was trying to figure out why each of the book values are different if the calculation is based on the SEC numbers.

Thank you.

I don’t really know but I think the services try to improve on the “raw” GAAP numbers and they all do it a bit differently. It’s that bit of expertise that the article Duma linked talks about. I’m OK with ball park numbers but when I want “real” numbers I go the the SEC filings.
