So, what's wrong with the USA?

Become a banker and get bail out after bail out, year in year out, more or less with impunity, no matter how you acted:

Politicians protect those that keep them in office.
This is a tradition in the USA.
I just finished the following book: “Age of Betrayal: The Triumph of Money in America, 1865-1900”

Jack Beatty details the corruption of American political culture that, in the words of Rutherford B. Hayes, transformed “a government of the people, by the people, and for the people” into “a government by the corporations, of the corporations, and for the corporations.” A passionate, gripping, scandalous and sorrowing history of the triumph of wealth over commonwealth.

After reading it I thought to myself:things haven’t really changed in the USA. There was an aberration of 1935 to 1980 when the small guy was offered some protection by our national government. It just took a bipartisan effort [1980-1999]of deregulation by bought politicians to abolish those protections.

It is a very hard world. A cold rock with a thin layer of air and water.

We are here on METaR to make it financially better for us. We live we die. It is not an easy place to be. Money helps buy the Athenians cushions. There was no point in being a Spartan.

The Great Depression was some of the most dire times. The factories went out of business. In 2008 the financial system was saved. Prior people were allowed by the FED to build a bubble. Then it crashed but the banks and factories survived mostly. The difference between the great depression and 2010 the job market survived and came back.

Sometimes you get no cushion. Sometimes you do not know when you get a cushion.
