So are your delusions.
Gee, where is the board nanny for all your political post???

They are sunning themselves under an umbrella, but once the tide seems to be turning they get into action.

Perhaps we should return the Statue of Liberty to France and say that the America referred to by this inscription no longer exists.

That inscription was to show how much we do compared to most of the rest of the world and acknowledging this is the #1 destination.

It does not suggest or imply we do so without some screening, nor does it imply our intake is limitless.

If the harpies are correct that we are racist 24/7, full of white supremacy and generally unkind to folks of color or of very limited means, then why do they come here instead of a more local country with a language and culture more similar to their own? Why is there such a long list of those seeking legal and more traditional means to immigrate here, decade after decade?

Use logic, not political hyperbole.

You entered LEGALLY or your relatives did, just like tens of millions of LEGAL immigrants.

Yes I entered legally with my parents when I was 7 years old.

You forgot to say that tens of millions of immigrants were penniless.

What do you suggest the US Border towns do with the going on 2 million illegal aliens crossing the Border into Texas and Arizona? Surely extremely rich communities such as Martha’s Vineyard can afford to take in and look after at least 50 of them, Right?..

=============================

California gets more aliens than TX and AZ, but CA does not bus them out of state. CA is not morally and politically motivated to be bigoted and inhumane to immigrants. No Christian values in the hearts of GOP leaders in TX and AZ.

After all, isn’t Martha’s Vineyard a sanctuary city?

From an ECONOMIC standpoint I’m jealous of locales getting these marvelous arrivals. It’ll do nothing but amazing things for schools, hospitals, commerce, etc. Diversity is a strength, and I’m perplexed as to why recipients of this economic boon - aren’t more thankful, versus…well…sort of panicked.

The illegal Latinos are good enough to hire when people do not want to pay their taxes.

There are other groups of people here illegally as well. But this is solely aimed at all the Latinos.

I have lived in Texas and know the Texans of Mexican decent in Texas long before there was a United States and before Texas was US are often targeted out of this bigotry.

I guess calling people bigoted makes some of them deny it. Some will say of course. Meanwhile DeSantis is cashing in on all the bigots in the GOP for targeting poor Latinos. Making a joke of groups of people as if the people are all one “loss” for America, not at all true. Or guys would not hire them illegally in the first place.

Desantis and the others are just making everyone else know the burden of an out of control immigration system. The more that actually face its consequences, the more who know. Soon certain political namesakes will not be able to continue with a blind eye to it.The sooner it gets more civil and controlled on this side of the border the better it will be for all on this side of the border.

No worries, the Border Czar is on it and the root of the problem is well at hand (and has been known for an eternity) so “just you wait Henry Higgins, just you wait”.

You vet and decide the limits of who and when people get allowed into your home and business, but in your sovereign country…well, no such process allowed. It is decided who and how fast one can drive on the roadways for everyone’s safety, but in regards to immigration, no such organized process is allowed…it is too discriminatory. Then again, that is what laws do, create an expected order of things.

It was work or starve. So most worked.
Pre existing citizens of the US were not paying for them. They were not consuming many government services because there were few or none available at the time. Most charitable help was privately funded, often through churches.

+++++++++++++++

This is replete with racist bias.

Most or at least many folks, regardless of color or whatever, would rather not have to have their pay cut via taxes withheld. It is a common inclination. As an employer I get that with my temporary employees all the time which drives me nuts. An employer pays some payroll taxes, yes, but so does the employee. Social security taxes is a fifty-fifty contract, not to mention Medicare and a unemployment contribution. Both are avoided and both can fiscally benefit in the short term. It is the system that gets robbed if you will. You present it falsely that the big bad employer gets the sole benefit in that regard. So it is a double edge sword and not related to race or color…unless you want it to be to attempt to leverage your animosity. Why?

There are other groups of people here illegally as well. But this is solely aimed at all the Latinos.

The fact is most of these folks now flooding the borders, but by no means all, are fleeing from many countries in South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. The majority are of Latin decent. But the immigration problem is one of size and manipulation of access, filled with a criminal element to get you here for a fee and accept the abuse and risk of harm/death, all because of a lack of structure that we can manage at this point. I have had several clients who are here for work visas (computer related) from European countries who get so busy and involved in their work, they suddenly find out they are in violation of their visa and have to leave this country and reapply. One guy had to reschedule his wedding here for that very reason. They violated the terms of their visa. They have to arrange to further their compliance. It does not matter the color of their skin. When you flood the border with some 160,000+ extra folks each month, as is the current rate, there is no system in place to handle this volume. This is in addition to the current work visas issued and other legal migration ongoing.

To have an administration in place who turns their back on this issue stating “There is no border problem” is ludicrous. Still there are those folks who remain quiet unless they can direct the problem to further the racism cry.

Government and political minded folks are creating a self fulfilling prophecy. They complain about the underclass here blaming their political foes and certain thriving parts of the society, when they also turn around allow a constant feed of folks to enter that underclass with little restrictions. This guarantees a underclass population faster than folks can get past the underclass status. Further, this provides more attention to those who claim to be helping the underclass but at the same time they are responsible for assuring that class keeps arriving unrestricted. In other words, they create their own need and voting block and in a most dishonest manner. That is why it will not be resolved rationally unless there is broad support across the nation that forces those in politics to change course.

Meanwhile in California,

“Showdown: California town turns away buses of detained immigrants”

“CNN
The national controversy over a surge of Central American immigrants illegally crossing the U.S. border established a new battleground this week in a small Southern California town, where angry crowds stopped detained migrants from entering their community.

In a faceoff Tuesday with three buses carrying the migrants behind screened-off windows, the demonstrators chanted “Go back home!” and “USA” and successfully forced the coaches to leave Murrieta, CNN affiliate KFMB reported.

The buses instead took the 140 or so undocumented immigrants to U.S. processing centers at least 80 miles away, in the San Diego and El Centro areas, federal officials say.”

https://www.cnn.com/2014/07/02/us/california-immigrant-trans…

Yep, it has begun and will spread to small town California, same as the Border towns in Texas and AZ.

“Businesses Are Fleeing California Along With Its Residents,”

“Last year, California’s population decreased for the first time in recorded history and it lost a congressional seat. The state is starting to develop a two-tiered society, with higher-income, educated tech workers clustering in the major coastal cities while lower-income, less-educated workers are relegated to the interior of the state or forced out altogether. Now, a new study finds that business headquarters are also leaving the state at a record pace.”

https://www.forbes.com/sites/adammillsap/2021/08/27/business…

“Why some tech companies and billionaires are leaving California”

“While it may be an overstatement to say California is hemorrhaging people, some of the state’s major companies and wealthiest residents are leaving for states like Texas, Arizona and Florida. In 2020, Oracle, Palantir and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise were among the companies that announced they’re relocating their headquarters out of the Golden State. Wealthy individuals from the tech industry moving recently include Larry Ellison, Drew Houston, Joe Lonsdale and Elon Musk, currently the world’s richest man.

California’s population and job growth have both slowed to a trickle, with many citing concerns about high taxes, cost of living and heavy regulations. With the rise of remote work in 2020, over 135,000 more people left California than moved in – the third largest net migration loss ever recorded for the state.”

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/23/why-companies-are-fleeing-ca…

It appears to me in the not too distant future the exodus of California’s wealthy and major companies employing thousands taking with them the billions in tax money California will no longer receive, will eventually hurt those who migrated to California looking for a better life.

. CA is not morally and politically motivated to be bigoted and inhumane to immigrants.

lurkermom,

You had to reach 7 years back to find some local residents (right wing GOP anti-immigrant hooligans) who demonstrated. They took the immigrants to a processing center because of the hooligans and because they needed to be processed. They were not bused to any other state. Maybe you did not know that undocumented immigrants need to be processed. Immigrants in Texas and AZ are also processed.

Might want to check your history book. Assuming it hasn’t been taken out of the classroom yet.

AD 1621: Wampanoag people save Pilgrims

The Wampanoag people, the “People of the First Light,” are responsible for saving the Pilgrims from starvation and death during the harsh winter of 1620–21. The age-old Wampanoag respect for nature and for using the bounty of land and sea makes it possible for the Wampanoag people to share their provisions with the Pilgrims. Their generosity is the basis for the story of the first American Thanksgiving.

The pilgrims did get assistance from the governing power of the time, the originals peoples on the land had a government.

The pilgrims also died in massive numbers of starvation. About half of them along with the cold and disease. I am not sure why you would use the pilgrims for a posterchild of do or die. They died. They were so bad at farming they did not know the area in NE sucked compared to much of western Europe as farmland. If they were farmers they would have gone back to England.

What can we say about the pilgrims? They needed a lot more help than they got. It killed them being only partially helped. Those that died were obviously not self sufficient.

Yes, exactly. It’s too bad these liberal towns and cities are having fits migrants are being bussed there, they should be grateful. I’m sure they have “help wanted “ signs all over town, same as everywhere else. The migrants are looking for work to earn money to send to their families back home.
Both would benefit.

If that is ok for the Pilgrims, then it is ok for the rest of the world today without the need to cry racism.

Also the Pilgrims did not get food stamps and free medical. Let alone bus/plane rides to free stuff land.

How do you processed them when they are coming in by the thousands and thousands every week?
There is no control and a lack of help to processed them.
