Is it just me or does the fact that it would be built on:
marshland of Pecan Island in Vermillion Parish.
Which has a max elevation of 10 feet above sea level, make me wonder if they fully thought this through?
It would seem that a lot of extra expense would need to go into sinking the foundations deep enough to prevent sinking (it is a marshland no less) as well as increasing the elevation to avoid future storm surges.
Seems a high risk location to build such a project.

To quote the TV commercial about my favorite new pretzels, “That seems like a lot.”
I am also reminded of the promises of the Space shuttle, which was going to fly once a week, or even more. (It turned out to be 4-5 times per year.) But maybe that kind of accelerated schedule can happen, it is more than 40 years later, after all.
That said, that’s a brickyard full of fuel used daily, lots of atmospheric pollution dispensed, and the occasional rocket booster landing on some anonymous apartment building somewhere, but what the heck, it’s Louisiana.

A lot of the US oil & gas infrastructure is in Vermillion Parish. We know how to build large scale industrial facilities on that marshy soil.
The attraction for Musk is that only 300 people live there and can be easily bought off.

The south Louisiana coast and its swampy, coastal nature is hardly different than current launch locations in south Texas and in Florida.
The real question in my mind is if SpaceX will resolve the heat shield issues that they have made improvements on but still far from having a Starshipp upper stage that can be turned around nd relaunched at the rate requiring expansion of launch facilities.
I believe this will be solved at some time but when Elon said it was solved already was making a very disingenuous comment.
