I have no technical expertise and can’t even conceptualize what their chips do, BUT… from what they say, this acquisition fundamentally and excitingly changes the company. It seems actually even more important than the increased guidance, much more. It seems to allow them to integrate their chips at an earlier level, and instead of just providing the chips, to provide the whole platform for the entire non-Apple universe of mobile devices, if I’m reading it right. (Bolding is mine)
Here’s what they say: Synaptics expects to increase its addressable market opportunity by 1.5X and to accelerate its product roadmap for touch-and-display driver integration (TDDI). The combination enables platform-level solutions for select segments of the mobile market, while also extending its leadership position in Touch and DDIC product families.
