The bottomless well of "JC" asks

Ford CEO Farley, crying that he wants more protection from imports, and, apparently, he thinks the government should be giving him money for the vehicles Ford exports.

Farley said. “But this is what we really care about. We need to continue to work closely with the administration on a comprehensive set of policies to support our shared vision of that healthy and growing auto industry. And we are not there yet.”

“So many of the vehicles we build here are exported around the globe,” he said. “Shouldn’t we get credit for that? Those are American jobs. And we have to keep working on affordable parts to ensure that those supply chains promote domestic growth and affordable vehicles in our country.”

The late local news ran a clip of Farley whining tonight, words to the effect 'we need to import fasteners, and washers, and wire harnesses, and carpet. no-one in the US makes that stuff". My first thought was “if everyone has to import the same things, and pay the same tariff, it’s a wash. Ford isn’t “burdened” unfairly”. The Beeb ran a clip of Farley in a CNN interview tonight, where he was whining about keeping cars 'affordable". This is the guy who wants to push Ford’s GP to 8%. This is the guy who has axed Ford’s most affordable models, and is looking to axe even the moderate priced SUVs. And he is crying about “affordability”?

What a horse’s kazoo.

As soon as the inventory of pre-tariff cars is sold off, I’m pretty sure he will play the 'shortage" card, and gouge the living daylights out of people.

On the wire this morning.

“We have to import certain parts. We can’t even buy those parts here,” Farley said. He also shared that Ford has been working with the Trump administration “every day” in hopes of doing “the right thing for the country.”

“The affordability of parts is a really important thing for America because we’ve got to keep the vehicles affordable,” he said. ‘Yes we want to make them like Ford does in the US, but we also want to make the vehicles affordable that are built in the US. The parts are critical for that.”

A few weeks ago, he was boasting about making Ford “the Porsche of off-road”, meaning he wants to charge Porsche scale prices, and reap Porsche scale margins. Now he’s crying about “affordability”. What a maroon.
