An excellent analysis, but one angle is missing - Mobile Apps.
The reason Microsoft was able to jump into the PaaS market so readily was that they already had a foot in the door of most of the companies in the form of their business software.
Google also has got a foot in the door - in the mobile market. Their App Engine is the back-end platform of choice for most of the mobile app developers. With mobile app market still on the rise, this might be a good venue for Google to grow its cloud.
