The most bullish tech statement in 2020?…

Satya Nadella:
"… this quarter, driven by the strength of our commercial cloud. As COVID-19 impacts every aspect of our work and life, we have seen 2 years’ worth of digital transformation in two months. From remote teamwork and learning to sales and customer service to critical cloud infrastructure and security, we are working alongside customers every day to help them stay open for business in a world of remote everything.

There is both immediate surge demand and systemic structural changes across all of our solution areas that will define the way we live and work going forward."

This is a great statement for many of our investments, folks. Because, I think, whatever Nadella is seeing for “Microsoft’s cloud” is also true for other clouds and many other cloud products. In March and April of 2020, a great many businesses focused hard on working without the officespace. Now, they will focus on having that backup available all the time, or else many will decide that to justify paying for the backup, they’ll just operate that way all the time.

Also, Commercial Office REIT investors should tremble when they read that same quote?

This will be a quote I think people will be able to point back to, in a year -or in two years- and say “Our world changed in spring 2020, and this was one of the formative articulations of one of the changes.”
