> Good lord, man, do you know why these people have immigrated and what they had to go through to do so? Hint: they didn’t leave their homes because they had a good life, with safe and prosperous economic opportunity.
>
> No, it was bombs.

Er, what bombs were going off in France?

The ‘boat people’ were leaving France to come to the UK because in France thy got a tent if they were lucky but in the UK they were put up into 4\* hotels.

Bring your mates, it’s a great life here:

[![](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/motleyfoolfree/original/3X/3/7/37791603184c24993253782c131b0f9bead74e35.jpeg "Illegal migrant BRAGS from British hotel as he live streams step by step guide to channel crossing") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wr35I0sMkig&t=54s)

So, I would ask you again, what bombs are going off in France, Italy, Germany or the other European counties that these illegals travel through?

But please remember when you have dodged all those bombs please don’t rape our women and children:

> **[Asylum seekers told rape and harassment illegal in UK in new Home Office booklet](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ceqe3y34e9eo)**
>
> The nine-page booklet covers issues including respect in public, sex and consent, and gender equality.

I’m sure all these immigrants, doctors, scientists, engineers, etc will bring fantastic economic benefits to the UK.

In a former French colony, same thing! 🤡

That’s it. I’m moving to the UK immediately.

Oh, wait, that means I have to pack up all my stuff. Never mind.

Figured it would be immigration.

This is funny:

Was this the elites way of saying f you to the leave voters?

Otherwise why do it? Why have “open borders”?

IIRC, back then the issue was Polish and Eastern Europeans. Plumbers and tradesmen reducing prices, that sort of thing. Now, 10 years on, the immigrants are from North Africa and the Middle East. The issue is lack of assimilation – as is the case elsewhere in Europe. Even the Swedish PM has said that the integration of immigrants has failed.

You say that as though it’s a surprise. It shouldn’t be: His party is center-right, and his coalition includes the far right (the Swedish Democrats). He has had a restrictive policy towards immigration for over a decade, and has moved even further against immigration and immigration policy with every election.

Not a surprise (they pivoted to the tougher Danish model four or five years ago) but the immigration problem is widespread in Europe (although less in Eastern Europe with smaller influx).

It has been an interesting performance in 8 steps to royally dupe the Brexit voters:

1. Conservative politicians campaign for Brexit primarily on immigration - „take back control!!“
2. Brexit ends EU free movement.
3. The Conservative government creates the post-Brexit immigration system.
4. That system makes it easier to recruit large numbers of non-EU workers.
5. The government expands routes such as the care-worker route.
6. Non-EU immigration surges.
7. Net migration reaches **944,000 in the year to March 2023**.
8. The composition of immigration has therefore changed dramatically: EU migration falls while non-EU migration becomes the dominant source of immigration.

I’ve just remember two books by Oswald Spengler that I read many years ago. Spengler divided the world into cultures that behaved like living organisms - they were born, grew and prospered and then declined and died.

Think about the great cultures of the past, for example The Roman Empire - see Gibbon’s Decline and Fall of The Roman Empire which outlines this beautifully.

The UK (and Spengler would argue ‘The West’) is now entering its dotage. Most in the UK can see that things are not right, many talk about it but nothing changes. A thousand years of history is coming to an end. Like Rome the barbarians are at the gate. Unlike Rome we are fetch some of them here and putting then in hotels 🙂

I know this will surprise you, but people have been complaining about things since the earliest recorded history.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”… Dickens

“Why, since we are always complaining of our ills, are we constantly employed in redoubling them?" … Voltaire

““Everything that happens is either endurable or not. If it’s endurable, then endure it. Stop complaining. If it’s unendurable… then stop complaining. Your destruction will mean its end as well.” … Marcus Aurelius

“Kids these days” … every grandparent ever

The Chancellor is running around telling everyone that everything is fine and under control ahead of next month’s budget. The budget could be something of a flashpoint for the economy:

But it was quite a run, peaking with a quarter of the world’s land area and a quarter of the world’s population, dwarfing Rome.
