The Ukraine War

The U.S. restricts the use of long-range ballistic missiles it provides to Ukraine and some EU members also limit the use of their weapons. Ukraine is desperate to target airfields and other military installations inside Russia that are used to stage attacks on its armed forces and civilians.

“We need to lift restrictions on the use of weaponry against Russian military targets, in accordance with international law,” EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said as the bloc’s foreign ministers gathered in Brussels to discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“The weaponry that we are providing to Ukraine has to have full use, and the restrictions have to be lifted in order for the Ukrainians to be able to target the places where Russia is bombing them. Otherwise, the weaponry is useless,” Borrell told reporters.

This news raises some questions in my mind.
Did the Ukrainians believe once they demonstrated their successful push into Kursk; the weapon limitation use from NATO & US would be lifted?
In any cast it hasn’t been lifted. Perhaps it is now to late for the lifting of weapon limitation use of long range attack to have significant benefit for the Ukrainians.
Kursk seems to be a wasted effort of their best troops. IMO

The long range weapon use limitation really tied one of Ukraine’s arm behind its back. It confirms my cynical belief that the US objective was to use the Ukrainians to bleed Russia and had little to do with preserving Ukrainian independence.
Unfortunately for the Ukrainians, the US & NATO miscalculated the amount of munitions especially artillery rounds they would be able to supply to Ukraine. Russian slow territorial gain in Donetsk region endangers loss of coal mines and heavy industry valuable to Ukraine.

It will be interesting what US/NATO/Ukraine do in regard to Kursk offensive.
