Threat to Okta?

Traveling cross-country so no time to deep-dive, but wanted to share. Anyone see this as a potential threat?

Austin,

I was traveling earlier this week so I understand. Still, thanks for posting. Your link didn’t work for me, but I found this one: https://techcrunch.com/2018/04/16/windows-10-will-soon-get-p…

Not sure if it’s a direct threat to Okta but it does give me pause, as does OKTA’s valuation (PS is 20…similar to SHOP and SQ, but I’m not sure Okta has earned it…but who knows? Valuation is a fickle thing. But I can’t not notice that they’re already up almost 100% in 2018…wow. Just not sure how much more Alpha is reasonable to expect in the near term. That said, Square was up 154% in 2017.)

Anyway, back to Yubico, my two cents are:

  1. Lately I have been considering how difficult “security” is as an industry. So many efforts to make our online lives safe…and yet constant breaches. So many security companies (thinking back to FireEye and CyberArk and Varonis) that have been of interest, but not really delivered the returns so many of our others have. I’m hopeful that there will be a “killer app” for security, but I’m not confident I’ll recognize it, whether it’s Okta, Yubico, or something else altogether.

  2. Unless I’m completely missing the point here, this is a physical device. That just made me chuckle a bit. A “key” for your online world. Just ironic – makes me think of Dunder Mifflin’s slogan (from the TV show “The Office” ): “Limitless paper for a paperless world.”

Ok I guess that’s enough Friday rambling.
