Indeed, and that will be because there will no longer be a functioning US government, something, for some perverse reason, they’ve always dreamed of.

They will want “no govt” until everyone else decides it is time to take care of the wealthy–and clean their clocks. No military because no govt at any level. OOPS !!! Suddenly, the wealthy WANT a “govt funded military” to protect THEM from the public. No way will the wealthy PAY for the military–they KNOW they can NOT AFFORD IT.

Nice try, but the facts (i.e. the “real world”) contradict your claim. Why? Very simple.
The wealthy CAN (per you) afford their own country. So, why is there no such country? Because it has been tried over the centuries–and they ALL went bankrupt due to the cost of trying to run the country AND pay the costs of protecting it from outside pirates, thieves, and so on. The ONLY reason the rich survive today is because they require everyone else to pay for the ongoing costs of internal AND external protection through the govt. Remember: There are ZERO “poor people” (i.e. NON-wealthy people) living in the “wealthy country” privately owned and operated for and on behalf of the wealthy. So there is nobody else to pay the costs of keeping the wealth. Thus, the wealthy ARE “the welfare queens” as defined by Ronnie Raygun.

I said they can afford their own army. They fully plan to keep having the proles support the costs of a country, within which they may have their own army, to defend only them.

Ah, you failed to understand the single largest expense is their own military. Everything else is relatively inexpensive. If they could afford their own army, they would already have it. But they rely upon the govt to protect them while they do not pay much to support the military or the govt. They meet the definition of Raygun’s Welfare Queen.

Raising prices in commodities may be the expected result but in many industries your price increase sticks only when competitors match your increase.
Globalization has given consumers low prices but also closed many factories. A midrange adjustment protecting jobs with tariffs makes sense.
And matching other countries tariffs for products like cars makes sense.
Yes, compromises may result. We hope the net result is some improvement.
Wait until after April 2. THEN the fun starts. Unless, of course, tariffs are “put off” AGAIN. If that happens, everyone with a brain will KNOW the economy is going to crash “bigly”. So sell, sell, sell 'til her daddy takes the TBird away (repossessed). Now she has to walk, walk, walk everywhere.
