Twilio announces Twilio Pay

With just one line of code companies can quickly and easily accept payment via automated Interactive Voice Response (IVR) interactions or in contact center environments.

Wow. This could be a big one. Even if it doesn’t attract new customers to Twilio (though I believe it will), it will at least add use cases and stickiness for current customers, as well as probably causing them to use Twilio more and more.

Stripe, a technology and payments company, is Twilio’s initial launch partner.

I’m sure it would have been Square if Sarah Friar had anything to say about it. (Mostly kidding)

Stripe is a really cool company. I didn’t get this at first, but this page explained it better: https://www.twilio.com/pay After getting it better, I appreciated what they were trying to do a lot more.

As far as Twilio, yeah, this seems to be another neat feature it can offer its clients.

Initial implies non-exclusive and that there will be additional partners in the future. Stripe, like Square, is headquartered walking distance to Twilio’s headquarters. Stripe is a little closer to Twilio than Square is (1.4 miles versus 2.1 miles).

Yes, mostly kidding. Sarah is still at Square through December so Sarah could have made it happen if she had a choice.
