UBNT Asian Mfgr. -Concerns?

I recently purchased and am long UBNT and am curious about board participants thoughts or concerns about this… Although 70% of UBNT’s customers are OUS (outside United States), any concerns re: fact that UBNT manufactures its products in Asia and how this relates to President Trump’s plan to charge import tariffs? On the flip side, Trump also plans a one-time opportunity to allow US-based companies to repatriate $$. Here are two points raised in a recent Seeking Alpha article…

  1. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price, MSRP, for the UAP-AC-Pro access point is $149 - the price on the Ubiquiti online store. There are about 100 master distributors around the world authorized to purchase directly from the Asian manufacturer. Their price from the Asian manufacturer is $105. These master distributors wholesale the AC-Pro for $118. Sales of Ubiquiti equipment on Amazon, eBay, Wal-Mart’s websites is very competitive with 70 or more listing the AC-PRO for sale. Due to this competition, the effective retail price is $129.

As shown below, UBNT deals with this same import issue with other countries. Do not know, but guessing that UBNT’s competition also manufactures OUS.

  1. Almost 70% of Ubiquiti’s sales are made outside of the US, requiring the company to comply with each country’s import restrictions and technical issues. Examples of these challenges include a current software upgrade restriction in Israel. While Japan has cleared only a single UniFi access point - the UAP-AC-Pro access point.
