Up 9.4% through 7 days...Silly-ness

Yes almost everything in the background of the stock market looks good to me too.
Which in itself is scary

Ok, mediocre earnings could hurt some of these companies too, and is more likely than a “bad” quarter.

Now 16.4% in 15 market days YTD, so more than 1% per day. Teetering between a combination of thinking the market is currently
silly, and thinking that maybe I just have a decent knack for investing in individual companies.
I have far too short of a track record to this point (only investing since late-2014) to lean too much towards that
second thought, but the possibility cannot be fully dismissed.
For a further reality check, looks like YTD, the S&P is up 6.2%, Dow is up 6.0%, and NASDAQ is up 8.1%.

YTD gain Company	Ticker
23.5% Nvidia NVDA
15.9% Arista ANET
13.0% Mercado Libre MELI
 4.6% Apple AAPL
10.5% Ubiquiti Ntwks	UBNT
17.5% Shopify SHOP
29.8% Square SQ
11.4% Bank of Intrnt	BOFI
13.8% Cognex CGNX
 8.0% The Trade Desk	TTD
-2.7% Sierra Wrlss SWIR
19.5% iRobot IRBT
14.0% Hubspot	HUBS
 8.4% Pure Storage PSTG
 0.2% Celgene CELG

I am not a fan of the lack of automatic text wrapping when the "Table Data" button is selected on TMF boards.

Use < pre > and < /pre > around the table data and the rest of the post will format regularly.

Thanks, tamhas.

Do we really need daily updates???

Do we really need daily updates???

Nope, and I don’t plan to provide them, as the silly-ness should eventually slow down. I have been typing them out mostly because it seems a bit absurd to me.

For reference, this my best month since February 2014 and the month is not over yet. I think you are getting a lot of tail wind from Mr. Market.

Good to know I’m not “carrying this burden” alone, Denny.

We could do hourly I suppose unless we want to move to realtime.

Continued absurdity…sorry for another update, but we’ll consider this an end of week rather than daily update.

Through essentially 4 weeks of the year, I am up 19.7% (18 days of the market being open).

Rather than going with the YTD, here’s my all-time record to this point going all the way back to October 2014 (still a very short track record).

As of the close on 2/23/2018:
Me - 21.2% CAGR
S&P 500 - 10.7% CAGR

“Alpha” of 10.5%…once UBNT and ANET recover, the S&P 500 might just be doubled (to almost certainly jinx myself, since jinxing is a scientifically-proven thing)

I am more interested how I end up at the end of the year.

I am more interested how I end up at the end of the year.

I am more interested in how I end up in 1 year 9 months and 3 days, the day I am retirement eligible with health insurance. (But who is counting?)

I got you beat. I have just over a month to go, but only 4 full working days with some few hour days mixed in.

I’m on my wife’s health insurance plan though. As long as she keeps her job. We are both 50.

I am planning to find another job though. My job is giving me a pension which starts a month after my retirement date. I also have a Navy pension kicking in at age 60. I hope to find a decent paying job to keep me busy for about 5 years, to age 55, when I hope to retire for good.

Fool on and congratulations, short-timer.
