US intel helped Ukraine sink Russian flagship

(Like it of not, we are getting more and more involved in this proxy war.)

US intelligence helped Ukraine track and sink Russian flagship Moskva with two Neptune missiles

On Thursday an American official said that the US shared intelligence about the location of the Russian missile cruiser Moskva with Ukraine

The official said that the US did not know Ukraine planned on striking the Moskva- a huge Soviet-era missile cruiser- and was not involved in the decision

The intel was given to Ukraine to help them defend themselves from attacks from Russia

The disclosure of U.S. support in the Moskva strike comes as the White House is under pressure from Republicans to do more to support Ukraine’s resistance

As the conflict between the countries continues, the Biden administration has ramped up intelligence sharing with Ukraine alongside the shipment of arms

(Like it of not, we are getting more and more involved in this proxy war)

The only thing that is ‘news’ about this is the fact that it apparently comes as a surprise to so many that we are sharing intelligence.

We’ve been THIS involved from before it even began - we were sharing intel LAST YEAR with all currently involved parties.

US shares intel with European allies on Russian plans for potential Ukraine invasion

Why would anyone think that we are spending billions to supply them with weapons but for some reason are not telling them where they can find targets?!?

Even Russia knows this.

“Our servicemen are well aware that the United States, the United Kingdom and NATO in general are providing intelligence and information about other parameters to the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a permanent basis. This is well known and, of course, together with the arms supply to Ukraine by the same countries and the alliance, all of those actions are not helping rapidly finalize the operation, although they cannot hinder the achievement of objectives set for the special military operation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press briefing Thursday.

all of those actions are not helping rapidly finalize the operation

I’d disagree. Although the finalizing isn’t happening in the way that the Kremlin spokesperson desires.

although they cannot hinder the achievement of objectives set for the special military operation

Seems to be doing a good job of hindering, so far.

are not helping rapidly finalize the operation,

“Rapidly,” the instant gratification syndrome. You can’t instantly defeat Russia but Ukraine with Western help surely is bleeding their military which is all to the good. Just today I was watching a video about destroying the Crimea bridge with newly arrived rockets. I hope they do it soon!

On Monday Putin will preside the celebration of not being able to rapidly defeat Ukraine. It seems that Putin is also infected with the instant gratification syndrome.

How do you say mission accomplished in Russian?

PucksFool: “How do you say mission accomplished in Russian?”

Missiya vypolnena!

But Putin would be afraid to say that where protocol requires – the deck of an aircraft carrier. He cannot afford to lose another capital vessel for a lousy “special operation”, let alone his life as Czar.

Considering that the Ukrainians have some pretty effective drones and a warship the size of a heavy cruiser is hard to hide, I’m not sure there would need to be much in the way of US intel needed to slam a couple of missiles into the Moskova? The speed with which she sank can be easily explained with the usual terrible damage control training levels in the Russian navy.

Tim <Graduate of the “Super Sailor” course (long ago) where we trained non-navy people who served at sea (such as aircrew, aircraft techs cooks and medics) how to fight onboard fires and do damage control>

It got pretty exciting at times.

I wonder what kind of directives Putin has for the soldiers who don’t finish off the Ukrainians fight for their county by Victory Day on Monday?
