They canned the CEO and have acknowledged that the networks have pretty much come to parity (“Can you hear me now?” worked when the networks weren’t), so now they’re in a race to the bottom. How to cut prices without affecting profitability? They won’t. Instead they’ll get rid of 15-20% of the workforce and hope it doesn’t affect customer satisfaction.
