I have been a member of SA since 1998 and Options since 2016. In recent years, TMF has been dramatically increasing its video presence.
I don’t know if video is truly a more popular format with people or if TMF is possibly transitioning into becoming a media company but I personally don’t see this as a value-add.
When information on my companies was previously pushed to me as articles, I could scan or read them at my convenience. Now, when I get pushes for companies on my watchlist, the link is often to lengthy video.
I simply don’t have the time to watch hours of TV or Zoom formats each day. Those “shows” also tend to contain a fair amount of banter between the hosts, ranging from sports talk to Star Trek references that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Additionally, verbal presentations by definition are simply not as succinct as the written word so even combing through transcripts afterwards is not as efficient as simply reading an article.
I just wanted to let you know that, as a longtime member, I am hoping this is not the future.
Hi, Brian. The truth is that TMF’s demographic increasingly prefers video. That’s just the direction our culture is moving towards. There should be transcriptions for the videos, but I’ve heard from many Fools that reading a captured dialog is not the same as reading a research analysis document.
I know believe there are still written articles available, published to the main SA page or found under the News & Articles tab, but these may not have the level of detail you are seeking. Unfortunately, though, I do believe video is the future.

This trend favor urban populations. It is worth remembering that some of us, perhaps many of us, live in rural environments where broadband is not available and hence video is unwatchable. On a good day, I get maybe 100kb of download speed through my cellular modem. I hate web sites where I click on a link that interests me and it immediately starts downloading a video.

Hopefully the infrastructure dollars that promise to expand broadband capability into rural communities will help with this.

Who notes there are some Fools who do and some Fools who do not like the videos but given the direction TMF has been going in recent years, he doesn’t think the video strategy is going away…
