When cash is Bishop or Queen

There was a joke 1.5 decades ago that Episcopalians don’t play chess cause they can’t tell a Bishop from a Queen.

We’ve all heard the “cash is King” meme, signifying that dollars are a store of value?

When is cash some other royal flower?

When cash loses buying power due to inflation at 7%+, cash aint king.

But right now invested $ are also losing buying power.

And, right now, my investments have been dropping 5 to 10% per month, since Nov2021, losing buying power faster than inflation.

In this environment, cash is Bishop. Or Queen.



Right now I wish I had more cash in the IRA “losing” 7% per year… :frowning:
