When to lock in gains - vs hold for the long haul?

Only if President-elect Musk allows it…

Yes, they tell us Speaker does not have to be a sitting member of the House. Speaker Musk could be next in line.

Well, if Congress doesn’t certify the election by Jan 20, then the Constitution says that they proceed down the line of succession. If the reason that they haven’t certified is because they haven’t elected a Speaker (which needs to occur before Congress can meet, and Congress must be able to meet so that they can certify), then the line of succession is:
President - not certified, so vacant
Vice-President - not certified, so vacant
Speaker of the House - not elected, so vacant
President Pro Tem of the Senate - Chuck Grassley

So, if President-elect Musk can’t get them to elect a Speaker of the House on or before the morning of Jan 20, so that the election can be certified before the noon Jan 20 inauguration, then the Presidency would transition from Biden to Grassley, if the Constitution is followed - which isn’t necessarily a given.

Given the H1-B visa dust-up, I doubt that Musk could be elected Speaker.

You do realize that saying “Democrat vote” is a slur to Democrats. Or perhaps that was your intent. Republicans have been using it in a disparaging manner for - decades. I bring it up as it is hard to tell your intent - and I hear way way way to many Democrats using it as well. We are the Democratic Party; it is a Democratic vote; and I am a Democrat. Cheers

Frankly, I had no idea the Democrats were that sensitive.

I thought they were thicker skinned than that!!

I take the position thin /think skin is a human characteristic. Not aware of any data beyond the anecdotal category that any particular party membership is more or less thick/thin skinned.
