@steve203 this is why I was thinking of replacing my 1987 Whirlpool dishwasher. But DH points out that it still works and we can’t be sure that a new DW will be as reliable.

All the original appliances at casa del Steve were Kenmore. Whirlpool made Kenmore washers and dryers. I’m not sure about dish washers, tho my original one had a big silverware basket, which is typical of Whirlpool. Anyway, my 1982 washer went toes up in 2020. YMMV

I think Whirlpool is the last American appliance company. GE sold to the Chinese.
As an investment they do better when new housing starts are strong. That probably means when interest rates are lower.
During Covid we learned that Whirlpool parts are imported but assembled in US.
Depends on how the tariffs are structured. On the last go around, there was one rate for the first half million washers, and a much higher rate for machines imported after that point. So, by mid-year, the Korean washers were pretty much all sold out, and Whirlpools were expen$ive.
