If you’re state is ranked one of the worst places to live, does that hurt your house’s resale value? Does it make it hard to find employees. Anyway, there is something similar about all of these states, but I can quite put my finger on it. But why is it this way?

I recently saw ad an on TV that featured “The best bar in the world.” Good luck with getting people to agree on a voting for that.
At any rate, people (maybe they don’t work at CNBC) have been voting with their feet. Over the last 10 years the US population has grown by 3%. Only one of the states listed in the article showed lower growth. The average for all 10 was 8.4% (2.8x times the national average and 3x more than the other 40 states).

The problem is the list of “things that are good” and “things that are bad” are things most people are not concerned with if what they want is a relatively safe, relatively peaceful place they can afford to live in! and the ability to acquire and hold onto a halfway decent job. What was it, Georgia, really bad mental health infrastructure. Well, whoop-dee-doo! Not good news so work on that why don’t ya. But it hardly makes living there “UN-desireable!” for teh nearly 100% of people who do not have head problems. (That are that severe anyway) Same with attitudes regarding LGBTQ. It’s not gonna harsh their mellow for the nearly 100% of people who aren’t hung up on that and just want a decent place to, grab a Kleenex now, live, work, and raise a family.
Like that list I think, Money magazine used to do. Best Places to Live. The criterums always included a lot of virtue signaling before they had a word for it and idealistic High Horseism about diversity, and “freedom” etc etc signaling the places you’re all thinking of right now. But when the list went up it was always: Sioux Falls SD, Rochester MN, Omaha, & Lincoln NE in the top spots. The only diverse, hip, and happenin’ city that consistently scored high was Pittsburgh.

I thought CNBC had TN listed as the worst state to live in. Obviously wrong because I am now surrounded by “foreigners” from other states. And not just next door AL and GA, but CA, NY, and IL.
