Tips on board posts, and a request

My request: Don’t post until you’ve been here for a while. Our board is very busy. We get so many posts that it’s hard for me to read them all. Here’s how you can get up to speed:

  1. Please check out the links in the Announcements section on the right hand side of this page.
  2. Spend particular time focusing on the Knowledge Base. Most of us have read it multiple times.
  3. Then hang around and just watch for a few weeks…maybe a couple months, and see what we’re up to. Don’t feel compelled to contribute right away. I don’t want anyone to be afraid to post, but we do things a certain way here. It might even be off-putting at first, but I think you’ll find that it’s worth it! So stick around and learn. We can’t wait until you get the hang of what we’re trying to do and learn how to add value to the board!

When you are ready to post, here are some other tips on how to write a good one that people will respond to:

  1. Have a good title. Just “Zoom” or “DDOG” doesn’t really tell us what the post is about and makes it hard to search later.
  2. If responding to another post, please read the whole thread before responding! We get so much repetition when people don’t do this.
  3. Don’t post questions, especially if we don’t know who you are – you’ll probably be ignored. It’s nothing personal, it’s just that we’re busy, and frankly, you need to earn the interest of the board.
  4. To earn our interest, put into practice what you have learned here. Share your analysis of a company – the more organized and backed up by data, the better. If you make a lot of sense with the things you say, the board will start paying attention.
  5. Short posts with just a sentence or two of your opinions clog up the board. Please refrain from doing this – if it’s an argument worth making, it’s worth spending some time explaining your thoughts.

In summary: fewer posts, but higher quality. Thanks for your help with this everyone! Welcome and enjoy!
