Actually our Congressmen and Senators come pretty cheap. During the ABSCAM scandal in 1981 the FBI was able to buy several Congressmen and Senators for $50,000 or less.
Korean and Japanese lobbyists marveled at the operation, 'It costs $1 million or more to buy one of our politicians".
