Alaska Airlines B737MAX loses window and section of fuselage at 15,000 ft

Spirit is the spin-off of Boeing’s Wichita division. Balance sheet is typical Welchist: net debt of $3.5B and rising. Equity of a negative $859M, and falling, as of last September.

I’d guess a mistake was made. Probably a bolt was missed, or more likely not torqued to spec. And they DO double check almost everything during construction of a plane, so definitely someone screwed up, something in the process was skipped. Or something was checked off, but not done correctly. They’re doing the investigation now. Especially with ~80 Alaska Airways planes grounded. If they don’t have preliminary answers soon, other airlines will get spooked and ground their models as well.

The FAA already grounded the US fleet for inspections, which were only expected to take a few days.

Keep in mind the FAA found that QC at the 78 plant in SC was so sloppy that the FAA stepped in and started doing the inspections itself, as Boeing could not be trusted.
