apparently INFN closed deal with Telefonica 1/10…

Japanese ICT equipment provider NEC and integrator of optical transmission equipment company Infinera will expand Telefónica’s high capacity optical cable transport network in Latin America, according to a release from NEC.

A deal was closed with Telefónica’s International Wholesale Solutions (TIWS) division for the design of super channels each with capacity of 500 gigabits per second (Gb/s). The cost of the expansion was not disclosed.

TIWS network begins in the United States, goes through the Caribbean and ends in South America.

This is an important macro economic event. The counties that this goes through will experience growth compared to the growth that the rail road brought to the towns along its line.
