Japanese ICT equipment provider NEC and integrator of optical transmission equipment company Infinera will expand Telefónica’s high capacity optical cable transport network in Latin America, according to a release from NEC.
A deal was closed with Telefónica’s International Wholesale Solutions (TIWS) division for the design of super channels each with capacity of 500 gigabits per second (Gb/s). The cost of the expansion was not disclosed.
TIWS network begins in the United States, goes through the Caribbean and ends in South America.
