This doesn’t really seem like a money saving idea.

The regime’s agenda was clear before the election. They are all about hydrocarbon fuels, not EVs. That is why I wondered why Musk would get involved with the regime, though there are claims that he used his position to shut down all the government investigations of his operations.
Additionally, why in the world would Ford shut down their Louisville plant and retool it for EVs, given the stance of this regime?
Of course, if the escalating rhubarb around the Persian Gulf pushes gas to hew highs: $5-$8/gallon, those pesky consumers may buy more EVs anyway…

Is this to be for BEVs or PHEVs?

Simple. He said he’d be in prison if the other person won. If you take him for his word, it really makes you wonder why. And why you’d continue to invest in his companies. So yeah, he shut down all the agencies that were investigating him.
Robotaxi day is today in Austin, and local and state officials are wanting him to delay it due to safety concerns.
He loses either way on “the big day”. It’s crowded off the headlines by um, other events, and if it’s “delayed” that’s what gets the headlines.
This article, from June 10, says “fully electric vehicles”, which sound like BEVs to me. One of the additions to the plant is an electrical substation, and 16 chargers.
What is so confusing is that, last August, Ford cancelled a 3 row EV SUV they had in development, and announced that the Oakville plant would be retooled to build ICE Super Duty trucks, rather than EVs, as previously announced.
Ford isn’t saying what is going in to Louisville. Chatter says EV SUV, built on the Mach-E platform. This article speculates on a EV version of the Ranger pickup, even though the Lighting isn’t selling worth a hoot, and a “low priced” EV, even though Farley’s business plan has been all about ramping prices higher and higher (see the near 50% increase in the price of a Maverick, since it came out in 2022). Ford is coming out with a super high performance Mustang. Chatter says Ford will charge $339,000 for it.
