The car was coming too. Are there any heavy hitters already in the AI chip space? Is that what Buffett signed up for?
I don’t recall Apple ever announcing that a car was coming. At best, they provided tepid information that they were doing research in the car space. AVP, on the other hand, was announced, then demoed, and then started to be sold. AI capabilities were mentioned (in the last conference call) and the only thing they said is that “later this year” there will be more information provided about Apple AI efforts.
Apple doesn’t sell chips or chip systems, they sell products that use those chip systems. But the Apple M3 Max is likely roughly on par with an Nvidia H100 as far as capability. Yet, Apple sells M3 Max chip systems inside Mac computers for $3k+ while Nvidia sells H100 modules for $30k+.
Apple does not need to sell AI chips. They will use them in their products and that will make iPhones, iPads, iWatch and Vision pro better.
Apple will sell more of their own products.
