Cabo

So what exactly is there to do there? We’ve visited on a cruise ship once. I don’t remember it as anything but a couple of beaches, some bars, and the like.

I’m going to google, but thought I would ask if anything stands out that I’m missing.

Harbor tour, golf, some great restaurants.

So…not much.

Apparently there are camels there. A few things like that. But I wonder if it’s worth spending a week there.

Maybe we should look north. Seattle is nice, and there’s wilderness nearby…

Yes, Seattle is nice … depending upon what it is you want to accomplish on your trip. For example, if you’re wanting warm, sunny weather, probably not a great pick.

Say more?

I live in Seattle, if you happen to have any question. From about July 4 through mid-September the PNW has the best weather on the planet. It can be perfectly fine other times, but that’s a great window to hit if you can.

We were there last year to visit our daughter the end of June and beginning of July. Our timing was impeccable. Temperatures hit the all-time record highs while we were there.

Cabo? If I wanted to be surrounded by drunk gringos, I’d drive half a mile to the local bar and save my money for going somewhere interesting.

On the other hand, I recommend using Cabo’s airport to get yourself close to some good diving at La Paz.

Well, we’re going. We know there aren’t a ton of activities. It’s just a “getaway”. Resort is all-inclusive, and we can wander as we like. We have only done a day trip to Flagstaff, a weekend in Cornville, and last summer a week in Hawaii in the past three years. And we only did Hawaii because of their stringent requirements, and their ability to enforce them (e.g. you can’t drive there, so every person entering could be screened).

This is our first international trip in three years, also. We both had health problems, and then COVID whacked the world. Yeah, it isn’t going to be action-packed. But it should be relaxing. We’ll probably partake of the resort’s dance classes (we had to stop going to ours before I had my first surgery).

We’ve booked a cruise for late Aug, and one next Jan. And Maui in about 14 months. And I’m starting to ruminate on actual journeys that will involve several destinations, and require a couple of months. That will probably be for late 2023, or into 2024. Maybe something like Hawaii, Moorea, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Japan…maybe cruise for some of that.
