I have a Fidelity Roth IRA and I can view the total gain or loss for a particular stock since I bought it. I can’t seem to find the annual return % anywhere on the website or the statements. Is it even possible or is the annual return just referring to the stock market in general?
On stocks, mutual funds, and etfs, when I go to Yahoo Finance about half way down the summary page they show total return, year to date, 1 yr, 3 yr, 5 yr each vs S&P 500. Data is readily available.
For accounts if you have made no changes you can compare account balances on your statements vs last year. If it’s an active account with additions and deletions total return gets difficult. Detailed calculations are possible month to month but not usually worth the trouble. I use Fidelity. They plot account value changes and percentage for each account or total account anytime you want. One year, year to date, or more choices.
You can also plot share price changes for the last year on Yahoo, Google or other services. Usually they account for splits. You may have to adjust for dividends and cap gains distributions.
The numbers are available once you know where to look.
