Casus belli on the border

I do.

I wouldn’t (as much) if it was JUST military police being sent - at least they have some tangentially related training (but likely little to no language training) but we have now sent a Stryker Brigade which is made up largely of infantry.

Speaking as an infantry vet, you do not want to infantry grunts trying to act as police. We are not trained, AT ALL, for working with non-combatant civilians. We are not trained to have the temperament. I can only hope and pray that they are at least not giving them live ammunition.

And that’s not the case. From NorthCom:

Tasks carried out by 2nd SBCT will include detection and monitoring; administrative support; transportation support; warehousing and logistic support; vehicle maintenance; and engineering support. Personnel will not conduct or be involved in interdiction or deportation operations.

By the way, the last time a Stryker Brigade was deployed to the border was in 2012 under Mr. O’s administration.

You should know by now that I am bipartisan (or is that non-partisan?) in my criticism.

If they are not involved in interdiction, then I am less concerned.

Unfortunately, my dad passed 34 years ago. Otherwise, I could ask him how they handled French and German civilians.

I would suspect that an empty mag, and a bayonet, with the scabbard on, motioned in a particular direction, would get the point across. The chances of a My Lai reenactment would be extremely low.

Sorry but this is not compatible with:

This.

You can’t be involved with logistics and warehousing unless you are involved in deportation. I saw on the news last night that the military was using huge transport planes to move 9 illegals to Guatanemo Bay. The cost was prohibitive. So the lie is in.

All depends on the precise meaning of “help” in this context. But almost the only way I can imagine this “help” being useful still depends on the idiotic notion that human bodies trudging along to guard that huge border accomplishes anything significant.

The professional Border Patrol guys (I have friends amongst them) have an extremely different expertise from what all but a tiny set of military troops are trained to do. The coming of the age of drones may change that picture, but I doubt it.

Here in the Mexican campo where I live alongside a small ancient village, almost every family has men (and a few women) working al norte, and most have strong multi-generational relationships with expert “coyote” families who pass their connections and knowledge down to their children. Almost none of them cross the border along “the border” as normally conceived, but enter via various ruses and bribed officials. The images of hordes at the border that you mostly see are overwhelmingly of refugees and desperate people from further south than Mexico, using far less skilled coyotes.

Those images are what freaks out the goobers. The goobers would be much happier if they saw a soldier confronting those people, and motioning back across the river with his bayonet. That is a better alternative than shooting them.

When does the US go after the degenerate US drug users ??
( kind of tongue in cheek, but not totally ). If the drug consumers were not here, the drugs would not be shipped here. That is never mentioned, wonder why ??? I haven’t followed fentanyl closely, but I do remember the opioid crisis. Whole lot of white, red-hat wearing opioid addicts from Red States. I’m guessing fentanyl has the same customer base. When does the National psyche turn on them ?? I’m guessing never, with the current crew in charge.

Well, after they develop the first and second lines of defense and counterattack:
Public Health Services and a trained workforce to implement it, obviously backed by solid communication and coordination with police, lawyers, and the panoply of the legal administrative state. But the issue is overwhelmingly one of Public Health, and the societies that work it that way get far better results.

And that is appreciated.

I didn’t know the Strykers had been deployed to the border before, and I suspect most have forgotten or did not know.

Stop your clapping or we’ll stop it for you. Lol
