Caterpillar Inc., the Fortune 500 maker of the familiar yellow heavy-duty construction and industrial equipment, relocated its global headquarters to Irving in 2022, continuing a long pattern of corporate migration to North Texas.

Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Jim Umpleby described the move from Deerfield, Ill., to the company’s existing divisional office in the Towers at Williams Square as “in the best strategic interest of the company” to support Caterpillar’s strategy to achieve profitable growth.

Texas–yes. Former Texans–no. Because they will no longer live in Texas. They were deported to (somewhere outside the US).
