I do think he has a blindspot toward China. Simply saying “we should both want to get along” (paraphrasing) seems naive.

To each her own, but I think there is a blindspot in the other corner as well. Charlie’s views are always based on the Confucian ethos and not the 75-131 E longitudinal and 21-57 N latitudinal China and the failed policies of some 30 years between those lines in the 20th century. The last 30 years in China have been nothing short of stunning. Seeking out Singapore to get out of the mess is rare wisdom.
